AUGUSTA, Ga. – One of the most intriguing groups for Rounds 1 and 2 at the Masters will include Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth and Patrick Reed.

Reed is already a two-time winner this season on the PGA Tour, Spieth was the 2013 Rookie of the Year and McIlroy emerged from last year’s slump with a victory in December at the Australian Open.

The group will also include some good-natured teasing.

When asked about the grouping on Tuesday, McIlroy smiled, “There’s going to be no top-5 players in that group.”

Reed caused a stir following his victory last month at the WGC-Cadillac Championship when he declared himself a top-5 player.

To be specific, McIlroy is ranked ninth in the world, Spieth is 13th and Reed is 23rd.

The LVH Hotel & Casino first began taking bets on players to win the 2014 Masters last August, shortly after Jason Dufner holed the final putt at the PGA Championship. While the odds on the favorites have not changed much – barring Tiger Woods’ removal from the field last week – there are several players who have gotten significant attention from bettors over the last eight months.

It should be noted that the odds were first released on Aug. 12, days before Patrick Reed won for the first time at the Wyndham Championship. As a result, while he has added a pair of victories since then, he remains one of the players among the “Field” betting option, currently listed at 15/1. According to Jeff Sherman, assistant manager at the LVH SuperBook, more bets have been placed on Jason Day to win this week at Augusta National than any other player.
