Eight of the top 30 players in the Official World Golf Rankings are scheduled to compete in the 26th Franklin Templeton Shootout, which returns to Tiburón Golf Club at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort in Naples for its 14th year year December 8-13.
Tournament host and World Golf Hall of Fame member Greg Norman announced the 24-player field on Tuesday:
Keegan Bradley | Matt Kuchar | Brandt Snedeker |
Jason Day | Justin Leonard | Steve Stricker |
Harris English | Graeme McDowell | Cameron Tringale |
Retief Goosen | Sean O’Hair | Scott Verplank |
Billy Horschel | Ryan Palmer | Camilo Villegas |
Charles Howell III | Kenny Perry | Jimmy Walker |
Jerry Kelly | Ian Poulter | Mike Weir |
Chris Kirk | Rory Sabbatini | Gary Woodland |
The two-man team event returns defending champions Kuchar and English, as well as the current FedEx Cup champion, Horschel.
Others in the top 30 are Day, McDowell, Walker, Kirk, Bradley and Stricker.
Five players – Kirk, Palmer, Tringale, Walker and Woodland – will be competing for the first time. Of the other 19 returning contestants, eight have won the event.
The pairings for the 12, two-man teams will be announced at the end of this month.
Norman, who recently pondered if a return to golf was in the cards after a chainsaw accident, will not be competing in the tournament because of his broadcast duties with Fox Sports, but he is scheduled to compete in the Tuesday and Wednesday pro-am event.
